Happy 1st Birthday Par!

I know...I know...there is no excuse for not updating in a timely manner...but I'm going to give you one anyway...actually...I'll give you a few, you pick the one you like best...
1. Rusty and I have been SICK SICK SICK...I'm talking green stuff, can't breathe, can't speak, coughing all the time...no appetite...we've been worthless.
2. Puppies, puppies and poopies...all I do is clean poop and pee between diaper changes--all this while being sick...
3. Family in town...yep, we had Par's Big D and Minnie in town for the big 1st Birthday, so we've been entertaining them.
4. I'm missing 60% of the keys on my keyboard of my laptop, thanks to a certain monkey.
5. My computer couldn't handle the professional photos I've been trying to upload and has frozen up...and without the keys, it is hard to figure out what to press to "unfreeze" it...
6. I didn't want to "post just to post"--I wanted it to be good, so I kept putting it off for when I have time...I see now that will not ever happen...

So...we've been busy, sick and tired--like everyone else I'm sure! Par had his first Synagis shot the last week in October and by the grace of God has not caught what Rusty and I have been suffering from.
The breeder chose Rosie (St. Jon Roses are Red), the fat girl and so we are keeping the other girl and we've named her Violet (St. Jon Violets are Blue). The boys have been taken to North Carolina to look for a proper home--although they are potentially still available if anyone is interested...just let me know. But yay...our house is getting back to normal...or, sort of...it is calmer than it has been and Rusty and I are both on the mend...but I know...who cares about us...you want to know about the Birthday Boy!!!!
Okay....a few facts before we get to the pictures...
Par has 7 teeth now...he is running now...I broke down and got him shoes since we were going through socks so quickly...he loves to swing, go down the slide, climb on anything...seriously, ANYTHING...he says out, balloon, Mama, Dada, Boo, Gigi, Jesus (although Gigi and Jesus sound the same, they are uses in different context--therefore we know they are different words...) He points at everyone and everything...he can tell you how old he is by holding up his one finger, he can clap, dance, stomp, and oh yeah...he can cry...but we actually don't hear it very often...usually after a climbing excursion.
He loves to eat, drink through a straw (although it is just water)...he is still breastfeeding, he can feed himself with a spoon, he can pick Violet up by her tail and he is excellent at emptying out the dog's water bowl and food bowl. He weighs in just about 18 lbs...which doesn't quite put us on the chart...but we are still making good progress...He loves animal crackers, turnip greens, steak, chicken, cheese...and of course, now cake.
We gave him a wagon for his birthday...which he found a few days before and looked like he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar when I found him playing with it...he ran off laughing...but now that he can legitimately play with it, he loves it...but his favorite thing to do is hold the leash for Tiffany or Violet...and you can often find him toting around the leash without anyone attached...but don't worry...he also loves all the toys everyone was so generous to give us...and my office has now been turned into (upside down) his playroom and reading room...which works since I can't use my laptop anymore...I'm on the desktop...as for toys...Par has discovered balls and loves them (he actually discovered these at the birthday parties we attended before his own)...

But before the birthday...we celebrated Halloween...yep, officially crazy...please meet Austin Powers, Dr. Evil and Mini-Me...I know....ridiculous...

So Par's birthday started out with this...Par strutting around the house like this...he brought me the hat to put on his head...

We celebrated our little Monkey's 1st year at The Crestline Tot Lot with tons of family and some friends with kids close to Par's age...we ate boxed brunches (a tad bento-esque) and spiced cupcakes---Par enjoyed his homemade birthday cake...and although we never mastered blowing out the candle...he knew just how to eat it!!!
So I bet you are thinking we went overboard hiring a professional photographer for the birthday...well...these incredible pictures we taken by my dad (Par's Sir)--he's got quite the eye (or camera) and we are so grateful for so many perfect pictures of the day.

So this is always fun...snap the picture before anyone moves or cries...fyi--it can't be done...

Par is so blessed to have all his grandparents here to celebrate...and one of his great-grandmothers...

I can't end this post without a reflection on the past year...and I don't feel I can reflect properly without forming a prayer...Thank you Lord...thank You that you love us unconditionally...praise You for your perfect plan for our son, Philip Andrew. Thank you for each trial you have given us--thank you for the life of our son...praise you Lord that so many have come to know You and see a miracle in their own lifetime--praise you for all of your wonderful works of mercy. Lord, give us a desire to seek you and praise you for the rest of our lives...keep us ever mindful of the gift of life...that EVERY life is precious. It is by Your hand that our son is here with us...only a year later...thriving...I am beside myself Lord...I couldn't have planned it better myself! I ask that Par's life may be a testament to your love, mercy, goodness--I thank you for hearing each and every prayer and answering in Your time. Thank you for the peace you gave us...thank you for telling us to be still and to trust You. Praise You, Lord.

As I finish this post, Rusty has reminded me that today (Nov 8th) is the anniversary of Par's surgery--how appropriate that I would actually get this post up...we are truly thankful for the skillful hands of Dr. Kays. Thank you Dr. Kays for all you do!

I started to leave Par a message earlier asking if he thought today was his birthday or something that would justify leaving us all hanging without an update for so long!!!

You do realize that by being under construction for so long that you are really putting a lot of pressure on yourself for the new post to be incredibly awesome and entertaining. I do hope you are up to the task!

Your Halloween costumes were hilarious. Mini-Me, HA!

Par looks so incredibly cute in that last picture you posted. He definitely knows how to turn on the charm. I'm glad he had a good birthday and hope you and Rusty get over your colds soon.
